		<description>Try for an Alphasmart. You can often find them on eBay for less than $100. It doesn&#039;t actually have all those features, but it&#039;s main purpose is portability. If you have a computer at home, that&#039;s where you download the words into the format you want. 

I type, then download via USB cable into an already formatted Word document. I can edit there. 

I bought an Alphasmart to stay away from distractions. And when you&#039;re writing a first draft, editing and fiddling is a distraction. It shows only 4 lines of type and it&#039;s kind of a pain to go back and forth, so you&#039;re more or less forced to just keep moving forward.

Oh, and mine runs on 4 AA batteries and weighs less than a laptop. Fits right into my totebag, too.</description>
